Detroit Lakes Fishing Report (3/6/25)

Writer's picture: Brady BaxterBrady Baxter

Doesn’t it feel good to finally get your permanent house off the ice?  I’ll be the first to admit that, while it has been an excellent ice fishing season, I am relieved to finally have all of my houses off the ice!  That said, fishing is far from over.  For those who still have the itch, the cold nights will help maintain solid ice for the foreseeable future, and some of the best panfishing of the year will unfold over the coming weeks.  Crappies and ‘gills can still be found in their mid-winter hangouts but they will start moving shallower over the next few weeks toward their spawning grounds.  Wax worms and crappie minnows on tungsten jigs and small spoons will continue to produce results.  Continue to be vigilant and stay safe out there.  Until next week, good luck fishing!
