The cooler weather has helped ice conditions in the area, and Little Detroit Lake has 13-13.5”. Other area lakes currently have 10"-11" I placed one of my houses back on Little DL last night and I am placing another today. Customers are catching fish, too! Some accesses are damaged yet they can still recover, but we all need to avoid them by going around them for another week. Avoid driving vehicles on the ice. Walking, and ATV’s and UTVs are your best method of transportation right now. The fishing has been good! The crappie bite is heating up again and they are associating with healthy green weeds, shallower than 12’. We’ve spotted Walleyes near structure, waiting to attack, and some have. ‘Eyes have been caught in 10'-16’. You will also find them in 20-25, but avoid fishing any deeper so as not to harm the fish. Heck, we even caught a few nice perch in the weeds in 11’. Be safe, wear spikes/cleats on the ice, drill holes often. Good luck this week!
